Momentum Jharkhand: A Gateway to Investment and Growth

Momentum Jharkhand is a landmark initiative launched by the Government of Jharkhand, inspired by the “Make in India” campaign of the Government of India. It aims to position Jharkhand as a premier investment destination by showcasing its abundant resources, investor-friendly environment, and proactive policy framework.

Logo & Theme

  • The logo features a young elephant attempting to fly, symbolizing:
    • Jharkhand’s identity as a young state.
    • Its boundless potential for growth and development.
    • Its fast-paced journey on the path of progress.

Global Investors Meet 2017

  • The event was titled Global Investors Meet – 2017.
  • Held at Khelgaon (Sports Village), Ranchi.
  • Dates: 16–17 February 2017.
  • Inauguration and closing ceremony held at Tana Bhagat Stadium, Ranchi.
  • City Decor: Ranchi was decked up like a bride during the summit.
  • Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was appointed as the Brand Ambassador of Momentum Jharkhand.*

G-20 Summit in Jharkhand (2023)

  • A two-day G-20 meeting was held in Ranchi on 2–3 March, 2023.
  • Purpose: Deliberation on global energy options.
  • Attendees included representatives from India and other G-20 countries, with 90 delegates present.
  • G-20 delegates were taken for an excursion to Patratu Lake, Ranchi.

Startup Ecosystem Focus

  • Strengthening the startup ecosystem in Jharkhand.
  • Special encouragement for:

    • SC/ST communities
    • Differently-abled entrepreneurs
  • Promotion of entrepreneurial culture in the state.

Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)

  • Total of 210 MoUs signed.
  • Investment value: ₹3,10,753.12 crore.
  • Potential to generate 2,11,226 jobs in the state.*

Land Bank Initiative

  • Land for projects to be allocated via Land Bank.
  • Managed by Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA).
  • JIADA divided into four regional authorities:
    1. Ranchi Industrial Area Development Authority
    2. Bokaro Industrial Area Development Authority
    3. Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority
    4. Santhal Pargana Industrial Area Development Authority
  • These authorities identify land and maintain a land pool for future industrial use.

Single Window Clearance System

  • Interactive platform for:
    • Identifying required approvals.
    • Accessing information on processes, timelines, formats.
  • Easy and responsive process.
  • Defined penalty for non-compliance.

Time-bound Approvals

  • Commercial tax registration: within 1 day.
  • Joint application for incentives.
  • Inspections completed in 72 hours (by departments like PCB, Forest, Urban, Tax, Labour).
  • Water allocation approved within 30 days.

Ease of Environmental Compliance

  • No pollution clearance required for 58 sectors.

Simplified Regulations

  • Combined inspection for 14 labor laws.
  • Industrial license validity: up to 5 years.
  • Online registration and application process.
  • Only one inspection in 5 years.
